Anne Hara makes jewelry in Karuizawa, a mountain town in Nagano, Japan.
She grew up between two countries — American by upbringing, half Japanese by origin — and spent her early career in finance and technology before returning to Japan. A workshop in a Tokyo mitsuro studio showed her that jewelry could carry what she had long found in ceramics and old objects: the trace of a hand. She built a studio in Karuizawa and trained with makers in Japan and Europe.
Her pieces are hand-sculpted in solid 18-karat gold, with stones she sets by hand.
