ANNE HARA

Anne Hara makes jewelry in Karuizawa, a mountain town in Nagano, Japan.

She grew up between two countries, American by upbringing, half Japanese by origin, and spent her early career in finance and technology before returning to Japan. A workshop in a Tokyo mitsuro studio showed her that jewelry could carry what she had long found in ceramics and old objects: the trace of a hand. She built a studio in Karuizawa and trained with makers in Japan and Europe.

Her pieces are hand-sculpted, with stones she sets by hand.
