For couples marrying or proposing in Karuizawa at a chapel, a mountain overlook, or a quiet ryokan, a ring made in the same town carries the place with it. I can take on a commission ahead of a proposal or wedding date, given enough lead time to make the piece by hand.
Local pickup can be arranged if you're proposing or marrying in Karuizawa. Pieces are also shipped, fully finished, worldwide.

Questions
Where do prices start?
An original commission starts at $2,500. For engagement rings I quote the making and the stone separately. The stone is usually the larger number and the one with the most range, so tell me your budget at the start.
We're getting married in a few months. Is that enough time?
Most bridal pieces take 12–16 weeks from confirmed design, with a few weeks of design before that, so around five months is comfortable. Shorter is sometimes possible.
How do I get a ring size for a surprise proposal?
There are several potential ways. The simplest is borrowing a ring she already wears on that finger. Write to me and I'll walk you through some ideas. Also, keep in mind that rings can be resized afterward. Getting the proposal right matters more than getting the size right the first time.
Can we visit the studio?
Yes, by appointment. The studio is in Karuizawa, about 70 minutes from Tokyo by shinkansen. If you're proposing or marrying here, you can collect the ring in person rather than have it shipped, and see it finished before you take it.
What if we're not in Japan?
Most commissions happen entirely by email. I send sketches, stone options, and progress images at every stage. Finished pieces ship insured and tracked worldwide, and shipping is included. I also have some recommendations for proposing in Japan if you are planning a proposal trip.
Can we have matching bands?
Yes. Most couples choose either a matched pair or two bands that share one detail, for example the same texture, or the same pattern engraved inside. Currents is the band most often paired with an engagement ring.
Can the ring be engraved?
Yes. Names or a date inside the band, and hand-engraved detail on the outside if you'd like.
Can you use a stone I already own?
Usually not. Old stones can be fragile in ways that aren't visible until they're being worked, and sending an irreplaceable piece internationally carries a risk I'd rather not pass on to you. I make exceptions occasionally; write to me and we can discuss your specific situation.
Are the stones natural?
Yes. I work with natural stones, including Montana sapphires and antique diamonds. If you prefer lab-grown, please let me know.
What language do you work in?
Consultations are in English. I can correspond in simple Japanese.
